NUSHA'S VIRTUAL SKINCARE SALON

Did You Know?

An allergy is a protective reaction of the body to a substance that is threatening our system.

It is actually a defense mechanism to protect our body against a foreign agent.

There are two basic kinds of allergies, acute and delayed. Both can cause skin problems.

Acute reactions can be caused by drugs, inhaled things such as hair spray or house paint.

In most cases histamines are produced and as a result either localized or widespread changes in the blood circulation occurs.

The skin responds to such changes with a red itchy splotch known as a hive.

Because the reaction is very quick the best thing to do is to stay away from the offending substance.

Delayed reaction occurs hours or even days after exposure to the allergen.

When such reaction involves the skin it is called contact dermatitis.

Contact dermatitis can be caused by cosmetics, by detergents, and by environment.

The skin reacts with red flat spots to a rash like appearance.

As in acute allergy you should immediately discontinue using the offending element.

If you have any doubts as to how to handle an allergic reaction you should immediately consult a physician.

I hope this helps!
